Wandsworth - Rainbow Space Worms

Wandsworth - Rainbow Space Worms

The melting ice revealed magnificent mud this week and rolling competitions were orchestrated by older children who showed younger ones the best spots with enough slope and space to have the best fun. A mark of success here is the amount of mud our outerwear gets covered in, and there were certainly top marks all round!

Fulham - A Frosty Fulham Palace

Fulham - A Frosty Fulham Palace

So as another week closes in the Fulham forest it’s been an eventful and busy week. We started the week really focusing on number work and spent some time in the creative area practising writing our numbers. The older children even began to use the wooden numbers, creating little sums and then attempting to work them out.

Morden - Weaving with Brightly Coloured Yarn

This week in the forest has given the children brilliant opportunities to push themselves and get into their strong flow of creativity and learning! Our frosty environment creates new interesting things to look at each morning, like ice which freezes to look like interesting crystals, or perfect leaf prints from the frost! The children love to see how their environment changes and develops in all different weather conditions.

Putney Heath - Icy Adventures !

Putney Heath - Icy Adventures !

We have had a fantastic week here at Putney Heath, exploring the icy wonders of the forest. The mornings have been magical, stepping onto the fresh, icy cricket pitch and watching as the ice glistened in the sun. We have had an array of wonderful activities this week including our very own forest post office. The children had the opportunity to write and draw on their own postcards and post them through the letterbox. This engaged the children phenomenally, allowing them to explore the idea of enclosing items and finding ways to retrieve them.

Wimbledon - Exploring in the Forest & The Farm!

Wimbledon - Exploring in the Forest & The Farm!

It's been another wonderful week in Wimbledon! Our adventurers have done so much exploring in the forest and we’ve also been on some amazing trips. We started this week off with some great adventures outside of the forest, we visited the farm, the library and also a couple of our favourite local parks. The children enjoyed exploring these new areas around Wimbledon and finding lots of exciting things to look at.

Chiswick - A Huge Wooden Bridge!

Chiswick - A Huge Wooden Bridge!

As most of the children are now back from holiday, we’ve been sharing a lot about the memories of each other’s winter break. This experience reminded us how capable children are of telling stories about their experiences, using their growing vocabulary and great facial expressions to tell us how exciting it was 🥰

It has been great to finally have a full five-day week with all the children and staff returning from their lovely winter break. There’s nothing like a busy forest full of little people exploring and embracing the natural environment. I think even our three chickens; Shadow, Marge and Michelle missed them (or maybe the tasty treats they offer!).

Wimbledon - A visit to the Park & Library

Wimbledon - A visit to the Park & Library

Another busy and exciting week at Wimbledon! We started off our week with a trip to our local park and the library. It was so great for our children to be able to experience some of the amazing local spaces we have around us. The local park was full of giant logs for us to climb on, muddy puddles to jump in and a giant green space to show off our super speed.

Fulham - New Year, Same Fabulous Forest!

Happy New Year to our wonderful Little Forest Folk families, what a fantastic first week back it has been!  We have all been so excited to welcome back all our little ones for a fresh new term here at Fulham and the children have been buzzing to be back. It is such a joy to see them so excited to jump right back into forest fun with their friends.

Morden - Banana Pancakes on the Fire Pit

Morden - Banana Pancakes on the Fire Pit

A much loved activity this week was gathering at the fire circle to cook some banana pancakes!! The children got stuck in early in the week to help us to start collecting fire wood and kindling. "this is a good stick! listen to it snap!" we filled our little bags and saved them for our camp fire activity later in the week!
