What a wonderful return to the forest we have had this week!
A much loved activity this week was gathering at the fire circle to cook some banana pancakes!!
The children got stuck in early in the week to help us to start collecting fire wood and kindling. "this is a good stick! listen to it snap!" we filled our little bags and saved them for our camp fire activity later in the week!
The children love to talk about our safety rules before going to the fire circle, teaching their peers about how we can most enjoy the circle time "we walk around the edge to stay safe! Sing the song with me!"
We then all got involved with making the batter for our banana pancakes! The children would mash, pour and stir all their ingredients together ready to cook over the fire, and they were so delicious!! We spent the rest of the afternoon talking about which other ingredients we'd like to make pancakes with next time; "apples! blueberries!"
The children also jumped into some role play to make their own fire circles when we came to the back of the nursery to play again "this is my fire! I need some water as well to put it out!"
