Morden - Play Dough Pizzas

Hello everyone!

Happy Friday! This week in the forest has been creative, imaginative and active! We have had a little bit of rain which has not put our Little Forest Folk-ers off at all when there are muddy puddles to jump in and mud pies to make.

We have had a very musical week in the forest with many of our explorers enjoying a song or requesting 'Mr Clickity Cane' or 'Jingle Bells'. We have had a rendition of 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas.' Everyone was heard singing 'We won't stop until we get some chocolate pudding so bring it to me right now!'

We've been working our finger muscles too whilst kneading dough and mixing the play dough to create pizzas. We’ve also been using our tools to create patterns and marks in the dough. 'Soft and squidgy.' 'My turn now.' 'I like rolling.' 'Cut in half.'

The adventurers enjoy mark-making and so we made sure to include lots of opportunities for this in the week, using pencils, water colour paints, sticks and mud and even mud on a tray which many enjoyed drawing swirls and lines with their fingers!

Caitlin helped the children design and make butterflies which 'fluttered' and 'flapped' round the forest. Some designed the wings using 'dots and spots' whereas others chose their favourite colour and decided how many eyes or 'antennae' their butterfly should have.

The adventurers have loved discovering new shoots and leaves growing in our jungle path. 'Roots twisting.' 'Look at this!! It's growing bigger!' 'I think this is a flower or its growing to a tree!' 'We don't pick berries, birds will be sad, it's their dinner.' All of the new shoots we’ve found growing have brought up the topic of seasons and what to expect in Spring! What might the jungle path look like in a couple of months? 'So many flowers!'

The mud kitchen has been taking orders for pies, cakes and smoothies. We have been ‘mixing,’ ‘whisking’ and ‘mashing’ with some of our adventurers finding ingredients around the forest 🌳 to include in our recipes!

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week!
