To switch things up this week, the children headed back to their roots and ventured to Monkey Camp! A lot has changed since our Little Forest Folk-ers last played on camp, so there was a plethora of opportunities to explore. The little ones have been fascinated by the slacklines and ropes, so they created their own high ropes course. Using the ropes as their guides, they climbed and swung like the animals their very camp was named after.
Twickenham - From The Construction Site to the Beach!
What a busy week we had in the forest! This week, we turned the forest into a construction site. We helped the Three Little Pigs make a strong house to keep the Big Bad Wolf away. We worked as a team carrying our materials throughout the forest using our wheelbarrows. We used tools to dig up mud to make bricks and collected sticks to make the frame of the house.
Wandsworth - Arms Raised and Frightening Roars!
Wimbledon - A Week Full of Rich Storytelling and Exciting Adventures!
Such a wonderful week at Wimbledon! This week we’ve taken some time to focus on the change in weather and incorporating the start of Autumn into our play. Our favourite activity has certainly been painting with some lovely autumnal colours. The children also tried painting with some natural paint made from turmeric in the week, the gorgeous bright pigment from this really helped embrace the Autumn colours of the forest!
Chiswick - Nature Treasures and Creativity
Fulham - Zones of Regulation
After another fabulous week here in the Fulham forest, I am pleased to inform you all of how much fun we have had! At the beginning of the week a safari jeep was appeared on camp made from our crates and to bring it to life, all of the small world animals came out to play. The children had great fun with these, using them to not only role play but to have a sing-along to some of our favourite animal nursery rhymes too!
Morden - Harvesting Runner Beans & Mushroom Adventure Walks
Putney Heath - A Photo Masterclass!
The first week in October started out with a bang as the children honed many new skills!
To start the week off strong, the children engaged in the most magical maths activity with their educators. They listened to a story and used props to count how many characters there were. The little ones added and subtracted the props but transformed the activity by using them to retell the story in their own words.
Twickenham - Carnival!
This week, the carnival was in town! We bought our tickets at the gate as we entered the forest and took part in many fun games. Our little explorers rushed to put their coordination to the test by taking part in a sponge toss challenge where we tried to throw sopping wet sponges towards the bullseye.
Wandsworth - Making Mud Birthday Cakes!
As the sun sets on another week of our second summer, we are grateful for this continuous warmth!
Water play has been aplenty, from making mud birthday cakes for one of our mini explorer’s fourth birthday, to a water hoist activity using a pulley clip to activate some paracord that is attached to a bucket of water, we attempted to reinvent our water play area to create a more physical challenge to our children.
Wimbledon - One giant leap for Little Forest Folk Wimbledon
Chiswick - Scrambled Snake Recipe
Fulham - Puppet Shows!
Morden - Puppet Theatre!
Putney Heath - Artistic Expressions Galore
Twickenham - Super Snappy Senses!
Wandsworth - Dazzling Flowers and Terrifying Tigers!
It's been another joyful week at Wimbledon Common, in the slowly advancing autumnal colours. A carpet of brown and burgundy leaves lay about the camp. Fortunately, many of the children are very enthusiastic about raking the leaves up, leaving deep tracks for others to follow and play on. Our newest children continue to settle splendidly.
