After another fabulous week here in the Fulham forest, I am pleased to inform you all of how much fun we have had! At the beginning of the week a safari jeep was appeared on camp made from our crates and to bring it to life, all of the small world animals came out to play. The children had great fun with these, using them to not only role play but to have a sing-along to some of our favourite animal nursery rhymes too!
One day on camp was based around ‘the zones of regulation’ as here in the forest we have been focusing on speaking with the children and getting them to think about their feelings and how they can regulate themselves using different tools.
This day consisted of a great range of activities going from drawing our faces from looking in mirrors and speaking about how we were feeling, to having the 4 zones of regulation areas set up on camp with different activities to represent their relevant colours, from target practise, to dancing and even a yoga area!
A little prematurely, but some of our children this week have been wanting to create and make some pumpkins in the creative area. It’s been great to see how much creativity our little ones have!
We love to create amazing role play areas here in Fulham and our doctors surgery was very popular this week! The children loved this station and once dressed up in their little doctors’ outfits went around encouraging the educators to be sick so that they could help them to get better.
We also had a space themed day to promote National Space Week, and an activity that the children really enjoyed was creating their own little rockets. Using some recycled toilet roll tubes, we transformed them into cool rockets and had fun flying them all around camp.
Stay tuned next week for another fun packed week in the Fulham forest!
