We hope this update finds you well and ready to hear about the incredible adventures and discoveries made by our Little Forest Folk-ers over the past few days.
Fulham - Face Painting, Counting & Flowers
It has been another wonderful week in the forest. The weather has been, like football, a game of two-halves, with cloudy mornings replaced by sunny afternoons. This is soon to change as we approach much warmer days next week. Please remember to pack a full water bottle and sun hat in your little ones’ bags. We will re-apply sun cream to all children with permission but do ask all families to apply some before arriving at the forest.
Morden - Bird Feeders, Finding Letters & Fire Circles
Putney Heath - Yo ho ho….
Twickenham - A Trip To The River!
What a week we have had, learning about lots of different animal habitats and how we can look after where the animals live. With the bugs and birds in the forest, the children have been making their own bird feeders, revamping the bug hotel with nice new wooden logs, as well as leaving out yummy seeds and mealworms and little water bowls all around for the animals so they can stay hydrated in this very lovely sunny weather.
Wandsworth - Adventure Walks & A Warty Toad!
The radiant sunlight we've enjoyed this week has assisted us in another batch of delightful days in the outdoors. The children have gleefully enjoyed all the usual miscellaneous activities in the forest, the soaring swing, the stacks of stories, the rocking ropes and more. The children have been blissfully happy from morning till noon.
Wimbledon - Bug Hunting Galore
With the summer finally arriving in the Wimbledon forest, the little ones have been loving exploring the forest and all its wildlife further. This week the practitioners brought in some binoculars and monoculars, the foresters used these to spot bees, worms, buttercups and even their friends around them. The meadow is also filled with all sorts of different creatures and is the perfect place to watch bumblebees fly between flowers, rabbits hop across and birds perching in the trees.
Chiswick - A Gift From Japan!
Fulham - Outbursts of Colourful Patterns!
Morden - Bug Huts, Sensory Play, Performances and Adventures!
Putney Heath - Fun, Laughter and Familiar Faces!
Goodbyes. We have had a wonderful week here at Putney Heath filled with fun, laughter and familiar faces. We have had another successful week of holiday camp, making new friends and learning from each other. We love holiday campers here at Putney Heath as they always bring a new energy to the camp and engage wonderfully with our younger ones.
Twickenham - 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'
Wandsworth - From Batman to Papa Smurf
Wimbledon - A Beautiful Sea of Buttercups
Chiswick - Butterfly Bonanza
Fulham - Eye Spy
Morden - Writing Letters and Dinosaur Bones
Putney Heath - Elderflower Cordial Again!
It is that time of year again… Elderflower season! We love Elderflower season here at Putney Heath, as it means we get to make our very own Elderflower cordial for everyone to enjoy. This has been the big highlight of our week and the children have all worked super hard to make the best cordial they could!
Twickenham - Maths Skills in the Forest
Wandsworth - Storytelling & Clay modelling
Under the leafy canopy of Paradise, the children got off to an excellent start this week. Gathering around the table, the children had a wonderful time, moulding, pressing and rolling clay with one another. With an eclectic array of possibilities, they primarily made all sorts of foods; sausages, eggs, potatoes and peas. The kitchen was well and truly open and all the little chefs were hard at work. "Ten fat sausages sizzling in a pan, one went pop and the other went bang," they enthusiastically sang with the educators. Bon appétit!
