Wandsworth - Storytelling & Clay modelling

Under the leafy canopy of Paradise, the children got off to an excellent start this week. Gathering around the table, the children had a wonderful time, moulding, pressing and rolling clay with one another. With an eclectic array of possibilities, they primarily made all sorts of foods; sausages, eggs, potatoes and peas. The kitchen was well and truly open and all the little chefs were hard at work. "Ten fat sausages sizzling in a pan, one went pop and the other went bang," they enthusiastically sang with the educators. Bon appétit!

In the increasingly blessed days of sun, the children have also had room to have copious amounts of fun in the forest. Using stickers to decorate their drawings and vibrant colours to draw grassy meadows of flowers and fluffy rabbits. Taking things away from the page however and looking to the children's physical imagination, they've been able to run around and pretend to be all manner of animals and heroes. Face-painting always gets the children very excited as they're able to do all the things they love, with some swinging like Spider-man or prowling like a cat.

We've also had time to take things easy, with plenty of time for some calm storytelling with classics such as 'The Gruffalo' and 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea.' With the hotter weather has come a rise in the number of caterpillars that we've encountered on the site which has all been very exciting for the children, with some of them even taking it upon themselves to build houses for the caterpillars out of sticks and leaves, so that they have food and shade. Very kind of them.

The children have had another week filled with some brilliant activities and have played with kindness and joy throughout. This weather brings out the best in us all. Have a great weekend everyone!
