Greetings from our lovely Forest! We hope this newsletter finds you well and ready to hear about the wild adventures and exciting discoveries your children, our Little Forest Folk-ers, have had this week.
First and foremost, we welcomed back our holiday campers with open arms. It was a joyous occasion as we saw familiar faces returning to the forest for a few days of wild adventures. We were also thrilled to meet new friends, expanding our Little Forest Folk family even further.
Our mornings were filled with creativity as we delved into the art of needle felting. Some of our little artists crafted adorable unicorns and letters using the felting needles, while others embraced their culinary skills by cooking delicious meals in our den. The forest became a den-building wonderland as sticks were transformed into cosy hideaways, and the children proudly declared ‘we are making a den!"
This week we encountered a delightful surprise that travelled all the way from Japan. Mariko, our beloved educator, sent us a gift that sparked curiosity and cultural exploration. We marvelled at the Japanese letters and compared them to the English alphabet. The gift also introduced us to enchanting concepts like cherry blossoms and fairy dragons. Accompanying the gift was a heartfelt handwritten note for our Little Forest Folk family and a precious photo album featuring Mariko's little baby, Alma!
Among the gifts from Mariko were beautiful kaleidoscopes. As our children shook them amidst the forest, mesmerizing patterns emerged, each one different from the last. Our little ones resembled stargazers, exploring the kaleidoscopic wonders and envisioning constellations in the ever-changing designs.
We also dedicated time to deepening our understanding of shapes through the wonders of nature. We observed the distinctive shapes of tree crowns and leaves, enhancing our knowledge of the natural world. Our little explorers are becoming adept at identifying various leaves and plants, including foxglove, stinging nettles, lemon balm, and water mint. It's truly remarkable to witness their growing familiarity with the flora around us.
As we conclude another eventful week, we are filled with gratitude for the adventures and discoveries shared by our Little Forest Folk-ers. The laughter, learning, and cultural exchanges create an enriching environment that nurtures their love for nature and broadens their horizons.
