It is that time of year again… Elderflower season! We love Elderflower season here at Putney Heath, as it means we get to make our very own Elderflower cordial for everyone to enjoy. This has been the big highlight of our week and the children have all worked super hard to make the best cordial they could!
The children patiently waited for their turn throughout the week as only a small group of children could participate at once. Once at the cordial making station, the children listened attentively to Selina’s instructions, and all took it in turns to complete the different stages of the cordial process. Including grating, cutting and squeezing lemons, placing elderflower carefully on top of the lemons and pouring sugar and water into the mix. Finally, the children practised their counting skills by counting 10 stirs each to make sure the sugar was fully dissolved. Our fabulous Selina then prepped the cordial and poured them into individual bottles for the children to enjoy at home.
Once the busy cordial process finished in the morning, the children enjoyed some other exciting activities. We had some fantastic singing in camp this week, after the children had worked hard to create their very own microphones! We created a stage for the children to perform in and we definitely have some future superstars among us! We also celebrated world Turtle day with some fantastic Turtle bingo, where the children practised their number recognition.
We hope you all enjoy sipping the elderflower cordial in the Bank Holiday sun! See you all next week for more adventures.
