We’ve been bursting with excitement and now that it’s the Queen’s birthday and the official announcement day, we are absolutely delighted to finally share with you the news that Little Forest Folk has been given the royal seal of approval.
Following our being selected by Tatler as being one of the finest nurseries in the nation last month, we are now delighted to share with you an article written about Little Forest Folk by a journalist who visited us in our Wimbledon setting a few weeks ago.
Well, this weekend was the long awaited Nursery World Awards! It was a fabulous event and we were delighted to be recognised in such a large industry such as the early years to be one of the industry leaders.
‘Wouldn’t we all secretly like to be Little Forest Folk?' We are incredibly excited and proud to be included once again in the prestigious annual Tatler Nurseries Guide.
The forest is a sensory joy during Autumn and this week has been no different with the crisp leaves crunching beneath our feet and the fresh air travelling up our noses.
The weather has been a beautiful combination of crisp and mild, and around the art the table the children in the Foxes group crowded around Xiao asking "Tell us a story!".
Monday morning this week began with an exciting discovery of sheets of ice all over the tents and even before bags were off, children were experiencing all sorts of fun learning!
What a great week we have had in the forest! The children have spent their time building dens and creating pictures with the things they have around them in the forest.
This week in the forest we have been taking part in anti-bullying week by talking all about being kind to everyone, including our friends and educators.
It’s starting to get nice and chilly here in the forest! Luckily, we have a ready supply of hand warmers for little fingers that are feeling cold and the children enjoy helping to shake them up to activate the cosy heat.
This week the forest has become a wonderland of magical leaves! There are leaves falling all around us like golden snowflakes and our forest floor is lit up like the sun is shining through from under the ground.
This week in the forest has seen children learning all about National Children’s Day. It feels like every day is children’s day in our forest, but this gave us a chance to work alongside the children as they thought and discussed what it means to be a child and what children need.
We’ve all enjoyed the unusually warm weather bursts this week, which provided an extended environment for children to see plenty of insect and mini beast activity.
We have all been loving the excitement that the forest can bring at this time of year. With the weather constantly changing, each day shows us something new.
This week in the forest we have been making the most of the gorgeous sunshine by going on lots of adventure walks and have been busy collecting all the different types of coloured leaves.
On adventures and long walks to basecamp, the children have engaged in lots of different games. On one day the children came to the cricket pitch to find a machine making holes in the ground for extra drainage.
This week the forest floor has become a carpet of Autumn leaves and mostly this week we have played in golden sunshine with fresh, Autumnal air that has surprised us with not being too chilly.
We are deep into the Autumn months now and some of the changes around us are paving the way for Winter. Such a sign is the huddling of ladybirds and some children have observantly discovered this happening whilst on their adventure walks.
We have had a very creative and adventurous week, filled with smiles and laughter in the bright sunshine. The children have had so much enjoyment from creating different pieces of art and construction of which they have added to throughout the week.
This week in the forest started off really sunny and warm but has now turned into crisp Autumn weather. We have learnt all about fog and mist and have been able to explore dew and frost with the children in all parts of the forest.
What a wonderful week it has been in the forest! From cold crispy days, to warm sunshine in the afternoons, foggy cold mornings and a bit of rain to indulge our muddy puddles!
This week started with a blustery day on the meadow with children embracing the wind! They created their own wind dances with different fabrics and used their superhero capes to show off their moves whilst experimenting with how to use the wind to enhance the look!
The crisp, cold air, soft blue skies and colourful falling leaves is such a beautiful time of the year and this week has been gorgeous, dressed up in all its autumnal finery.
