Welcome back everyone and happy new year! It’s been such a delight to be back in the forest after the break. The children took their time settling in and our educators did a wonderful job at supporting some of the little ones that found it a bit challenging.
The cold weather is here and so the dynamic in the forest has changed a little bit. The children have been more active and engaged in different activities and games to stay warm. We have been playing lots of ‘Hide and Seek, ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf’ and running around our camp.
The children have absolutely loved counting steps, trying to run from the wolf that was chasing them when ‘dinner time came’! Our little adventures helped each other stay engaged and happy throughout the days and looking after each other!
Looking at the changes in the environment on our adventure walks has offered plenty of opportunities for our children to explore how the water changes form. Rainy Tuesday brought liquid water, then Wednesday came with a misty morning and Thursday was glittering with frost and ice all around!
On our construction area, the children have been busy building tracks and ramps for the little racing cars to slide, go under bridges and speedy curves! They had so much fun finding ways to make things work and learning that sometimes it’s ok to not get it right the first time around.
At circle time, the children have been talking about their oral health, but also about their feelings and emotions as we gradually introduce more language around the zones of regulation.
It’s been a fun week for us all with lots of laughter and cuddles! The children are definitely ready for new and exciting adventures, and we cannot wait to share them with you all!
Have a great weekend!
