What a joy it has been to welcome our little ones back to the forest after the mid-term holiday! With autumn in full swing, we’ve been immersing ourselves in the wonders of the season, observing all the magical changes taking place in the forest around us.
This week, we embraced our inner spiders, weaving intricate webs using sticks and wool. The children loved threading the wool around the sticks, carefully crafting their own beautiful creations. We took it up a notch and built a giant spider web using ropes, which quickly became a favourite spot for climbing, balancing, and imagining we were forest creatures. It was a fantastic activity for building motor skills and confidence—and the laughter and smiles said it all!
In keeping with the season, we also explored the fascinating journey of birds and discussed migration. The children were captivated by the idea of birds traveling so far to warmer places, and we talked about the importance of feeding our feathered friends. Together, we made bird feeders using seeds, oranges, and coconut oil. Hanging these around the forest, the children were thrilled to think of birds finding and enjoying their creations.
Our afternoons were filled with song and music as we learned new tunes for our circle time. Singing together brought such warmth and joy, and it’s lovely to see the children embracing music as part of their forest adventures.
Indoors, we also had a blast making paper airplanes! The children loved folding their own planes, and we held some exciting mini-flight sessions to see how far each could fly. It was a wonderful chance to explore basic aerodynamics, all while having plenty of fun.
Thank you for the lovely week!
