Wandsworth - "Tio de Nadal"

Welcome to another edition of “what we got up to in the forest this week!”

The week started super chilly; hats, gloves and scarves were an absolute must, but by Friday, temperatures have remarkably hit double figures, and there hasn’t been much need for our winter layers!

We started the week with a foggy adventure walk to an area that we call the “savannah.” This area has long grass, and the children waded through it as though they were on a real safari! We spotted zebras, hyenas and gazelles, but didn’t manage to find any lions (much to our relief!)

We have continued our Christmas song-singing in the forest, as we continue to learn all the words to “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Also this week, inspired by of one of our Little Forest Folk-ers, we have fully embraced a Catalonian Christmas tradition called “Tio de Nadal”. This involves finding a log, giving him a face, wrapping him up warm, and “feeding” him a little each day. Eventually, in the run up to Christmas, we will beat him with a stick, in the hope that he ‘poops’ out some presents, all whilst singing a special song! The children (and adults) have embraced this with such intrigue! More information about Tio can be found here. A big thanks to Educator Dan for taking the lead with this!

Have a great weekend everyone!
