Wandsworth - Puddle Poking

This week, we had a fantastic time in the forest. We started the week with a hot and bright day, the sun was beaming, the water trays were out, and the new children had an excellent time exploring their new surroundings. Dipping a tennis ball into the water, before rolling it down our slide on the bowling club field seemed like a firm favourite choice of activity for our new younger children.

By Thursday, we finally experienced some rain, which was welcomed very kindly after the recent heatwave!

Set up team consisting of Educators Dan and Luca did a fantastic job at putting up tarps in the forest, which allowed the children to enjoy the muddy puddles on offer, whilst also having somewhere dry for them to sit and engage in either some mark making, or just enjoying a book to read.

One of the most popular activities to do with all the rainfall was to stand underneath a tarp and jump up as high as we could, to see if we could spill any of the water collected onto our makeshift roof. If this didn’t work, long sticks were brought into play to see if we could poke the puddle above us! It was so much fun!

We were also greeted with a visit from Karen, who used to manage here. She brought along her lovely 10-month-old baby boy to meet the staff and children. It was really nice to see them both.

A bank holiday is always a good time to recharge the batteries, so we wish everyone a great long weekend, and we look forward to welcoming a few more of our mini adventurers into the forest next weekend!
