Another week of Holiday Camp meant more time creating great new bonds, saying hello to new faces and caring for others. As some full timers spend time away on family breaks, we have been delighted to see our regulars enjoy finding new friends to play with and creating new memories. This echoes something we have said previously that we see this period in the summer as a great experience for all involved as it really solidifies development in the “personal, social and emotional” area of learning!
Almost every day this week the children have come together after lunch to perform a musical show, choosing music, and playing it from our speaker. Everyone has had fun having a go at announcing performance start times on the educator’s walkie talkies and designing informative posters with drawings and writing galore to hang around the sites. Everyone had a chance to choose music, with an eclectic taste very much inspired by music played at home!
Performers played ferocious stick drums and ukulele, alongside several animated singers with stick microphones. Songs were delivered with much gusto and drumsticks on logs absolutely sounded out the beat for several hundred meters in every direction! Well done everyone, this is certainly something we will expand on given that it was the children’s idea in the first place; can’t wait for the next show!
Have a great weekend everyone and please take care out and about in the heatwave.
