Kings and Queens
We ended last week with some fantastic wild cooking. The children enjoyed cutting up some fruit and veggies and made some expressive faces on plates. The children enjoyed eating these in company while observing the other children having a turn. The creativity continued in our theatre area where the children made up fabulous stories which an educator wrote up in our special book. Later, when the audience gathered up, the children loved acting out their stories on the stage.
We were welcomed by an amazing mini dinosaur world in the new week and the children played with their dinosaur of choice and enjoyed stomping them around camp, eating leaves and digging up the roots from the trees. The dinosaur fun continued further into the week and the children had the opportunity to make their own salt dough dinosaur bones! They mixed flour, salt and water into a dough ready for moulding into some bones. We are excited to dry them out and bury them in the forest ready for some archaeological digging fun.
Later in the week after a BIG adventure to the roly-poly hill the children engaged in a calm and creative activity. They made some paper crowns, using double sided sticky tape to attach leaves, sticks and other forest materials. Alongside this, some children created some stick swords to use in their role play as kings, queens and knights and some children even wrote some amazing stories about kings and queens. The children wore their crowns and held their swords as they acted out these royal stories.
The Royal fun didn’t stop there! We ended the week making some cardboard shields to accompany our swords and went to battle fighting the dragons and monsters in the forest. The children got creative and painted their shields to make sure they knew which sword was theirs!
What an amazing week we have had here at Putney Heath. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
