Happy Easter Everyone!
We’ve had so much fun in the run up to Easter this week! Lots of fun Easter themed activities, and spending time with all the gorgeous flowers and insects which have popped up. Dotted around the forest, the children have been finding cardboard easter eggs hidden in the trees and in places around the forest! Each egg has a different pattern on it, and the children collected each pattern when they were found! “I found the sunshine egg!” “I found the shapes egg!”. The children then spent a morning crafting their own easter eggs with cardboard, dried pasta, coloured straws, and other cool decorations.
This week the master builder Ronnie built us a new tunnel to crawl through and climb over! The children used their muscles to roll over the tires and carry the planks of wood to make the floor of the tunnel and used pallets to make sure the tunnel didn’t roll away, “This is more stable now! I can go through!”. The children helped each other to crawl through, with words of encouragement from the other side “Keep going!” and helped each other to take turns going through!
At the front of the forest, the sand pit has been the hub for lots of creative play! The children have been building a ‘sandcastle town’, with lots of castles and towers decorated with sticks and leaves, “This is for the bees to live in!”. The children started to experiment with how tall they could build a sand tower and counted how many buckets they’d need for the base “3 for the foundations!”.
Our cooking activity last Friday was making one of our favourites, banana pancakes! The full day children were teaching the holiday campers the steps we take to get the bananas ready for the wraps! Each child helped us with peeling and mashing the bananas, mixing a little bit of cocoa powder, and spreading it across the wraps before we popped them on the fire to cook! Yum!
We hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend!
