This week in the forest our Easter holiday camps continued, and we welcomed back many familiar faces along with some new ones too!
On camp the children embraced the warmer weather and settled down to some fantastic Easter art projects. One activity involved the children creating beautiful patterns using felt pens on a square of kitchen paper. The children then transferred these patterns onto an egg! They wrapped the eggs up with their designs and dipped them in water before leaving them to dry in the sun for the rest of the day. When revealed at the end of the day the results were fabulous! The colours were all swirling around and had combined to make rainbows and patterns all over the egg!
Later in the week the children used a mallet to create their own wonderful natural prints on Easter cards. They collected different leaves and flowers and pressed them under paper. Then hitting hard with a rubber mallet, they released the natural inks to create some wonderful prints!
As part of some physical challenges for the children this week we had a zip line. The children were super excited to hold on to the branch and fly through the forest at top speed!
We also had the slack line out this week and an extra-long obstacle course where the children challenged themselves to travel as far as possible without coming off!
It’s been lovely to see how well the children have collaborated this week and how eager they all are to step up to a tackle a new challenge. The new dynamic with having older holiday camp children on site has been great to watch!
We look forward next week to welcoming back our sessional friends.
Have a wonderful Easter weekend everyone!
