We've had a lovely week winding down in the forest before our break! It has been quite a lot milder than the previous week which has been ideal for the creepy crawlies, bugs and insects! We have taken the opportunity to go on bug hunts, using our magnifying glass and identifying bigger and smaller animals! This has been a great segway into discussing how to use gentle hands and controlled movements!
We have also had many festive activities to get us in the spirit! Maria brought in some wooden decorations for the adventurers to create and design using different materials and textures - we heard lots of discussion and explanations of our little artists’ creations around the camp! 'Sparkly glitter multicoloured snowflake.'
Another exciting activity was building gingerbread houses and sharing colours and tiles with our friends! 'When you have finished, can I have a turn?' The Christmas Elf also left some of his food in the forest which was an interesting science concept of cornflour and water. 'When I touch it it's hard, but then it melts.'
We used Christmas shaped pasta to practice identifying the different colours and shapes and matching them together! The children have loved communicating and discussing what Christmas means to them and who they will be spending it with!
It's been a wonderful term and we have had so many magical moments within the forest! We have loved watching every single Little Forest Folk-er develop in such a short space of time and we can't wait to continue this next year! We are sending you all our festive wishes and hope you all have a Happy New Year, from everyone at Little Forest Folk Morden!
