Morden - ‘Roll up for the show!!’

The Morden Forest has been filled with fabulous stories, tales, and songs this week! We’ve had so many chances to perform for our friends, through singing, dancing, or telling tall tales!

At the front of the forest, we have a Puppet Show Stage set up through the front door, telling tales of different animals walking through the forest, bumping into lots of crazy characters. The children have started to make up their own character ideas to suggest to the educators before the shows! We’ve also been starting to use the stories that the children scribe as prompts for the puppet shows. They love to see their stories come to life!

The circle has also been a great space to share things with our friends. There have been lots of musical performances, dances, and even yoga classes led by the children too! The children would hop up together to perform a ‘duet’ of their favourite song, talk with each other about what song they were going to sing, and encourage each other if they were feeling a little nervous.

The yoga classes have been lovely for the children to spend some time stretching their muscles in different ‘animal’ poses. “I’m a cat! Meooow! Now I’m a cow! Moo!” We take in deep breaths to smell the freshly cut grass across the fence and let our breath out gently to see if we can wobble our friends who are standing in tree pose! One of the children's favourite moves is to bend down like a little seed to let the blood flow to our heads, then when we feel ready, stand up slow and strong like a plant growing from the ground!

We hope our sessional families have a lovely half term, and we look forward to seeing our full day families next week for holiday camp week!
