We’ve been celebrating families and communities this week, and we shared what we enjoy doing together with our families. It was lovely to hear about what our friends do with their families when we’re not in the forest. Some go for walks or to the park on the weekend and some of our friends enjoy baking and cooking cookies or cakes with their siblings while others enjoy spending time with their grandparents where they play or go on different adventures .
We were also curious about how people send and receive letters so we decided to find out! We wrote postcards to our friends at our Little Forest Folk sites, wishing our fellow Little Forest Folk-ers who are leaving after the summer the very best on their new adventures. Then, we chose a stamp to stick onto the postcard because we learned that a stamp is a way to show the Post Office that we’ve paid the fee to send the letter. There is a 1st class stamp which means the postcard might reach our friends sooner than if we put a 2nd class stamp. Then, a quick trip to the post box before the last collection to post our letters! We imagined the posties coming in their little red vans to put our letters in their mail sacks to take to the sorting office. Then once the letters are sorted, they’ll put them in their red bags to take to people’s homes and offices to be delivered.
We were happy to see the sun come out for the whole day so we decided to go for an adventure walk in the commons to make flower cards. We walked safely to the commons where we found the summer wildflowers growing in the meadow. We carefully chose our flowers and remembered to only take a few and leave the rest for the insects. After we finished making our posies, we carried on walking to the pond where the water was clear enough for us to look at our reflection. We observed how our hair colour is different from one another and the shape of our faces. We also loved watching the mother duck and her ducklings gliding across the water and spoke about how similar they all look.
Have a lovely weekend and we’ll be back next week with more stories of our adventures!
