Lots of interesting play in the Modern Forest this week!
The children have been so creative with our potion making in the mud kitchen, getting nice and messy and experimenting with colours and textures while talking about the feel and smells of the potions. We’ve heard lots of language around emotions, like bravery and kindness, and how sharing our resources in the mud kitchen helps to make everyone’s potions extra magical! Our Little Forest Folk-ers used their potions in their imaginative play, transforming them into superheroes and helpful detectives!
This week’s cooking activity had their motor skills at work while chopping some bananas and strawberries into bitesize pieces “this is the best size for my hands!” We saw so much focus from our little chefs while they put their fruits on the skewers to make tasty fruit kebabs, which were enjoyed at our snack time! It was great to hear the children talk about how much they enjoyed the process and even more so, the delicious flavours! “Sweet, sweet strawberries are my favourite!” “Spring is here for our strawberries!”
Another fun sensory activity this week has been making gloopy slime with corn flower and food colouring! Also focusing on emotional intent, we talked about what each colour can represent when talking about how we feel - green being calm, red being angry and yellow being happy and excited! Great job Little Forest Folk-ers!
