Fulham - Yew Trees and Busy Bees

We’ve had a fantastic week in the forest. Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been so happy playing with the holiday campers, including them in their play and reminding them of the rules throughout the day - no picking, no licking and don’t go past the rainbow ribbons 🌈.

We started the week with a very special visit on site from one of the beekeepers at Fulham Palace Gardens. The children were fascinated by all the things that Kathy had to show them and listened attentively to what she was saying. The children are naturally curious about everything, so they had lots of interesting questions and some of the older ones knew some interesting facts about the subject already! We are so grateful to have these opportunities for the children to learn about how things work, how we can look after nature and nurture that relationship!

The children have enjoyed climbing the yew tree, learning how to navigate their way safely and independently to the top, then going back down with very little support from an educator. Seeing them grow in confidence and resourcefulness is such a delight!

We had lots of water games and muddy kitchen this week and the children really enjoyed playing ‘What’s the time Mr. Wolf’ near the tap 💦. With the high temperatures on Thursday and Friday, we decided to stay indoors for most of the day to stay cool. The children had such a lovely time playing with the activities we prepared for them, as well as enjoying some quiet and relaxing time with a book sitting on the floor with a friend.

We hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
