Hello everyone,
We’ve had such a delightful week in the forest. Chasing the sprinklers has become a regular hobby for us when it’s really sunny and we want to keep cool. The children’s happiness echoes contagiously all over the walled garden!
We’ve had lots of activities for our children to be creative, such as free drawing on cardboard and using friendly needles and yarn on colourful felt fabric to make soft kites 🪁 with beautiful patterns and different shapes.
The children absolutely loved using the trays with sand for their mark making and it encouraged their practice of the three finger grip holding a brush or a stick.
The children have been testing their physical abilities and challenging themselves on our adventure walks to the natural playground. They helped the educators assess the site for stinging nettles before jumping from logs and they learned that if we cut the stem the leaves don’t sting anymore!
It was with excitement and sadness that the children observed the tree surgeons cut the big tree into smaller pieces in the forest. Although we will miss its mighty presence and its contributions to our nursery providing: shade, a swing and a home for wildlife life, we will still have a piece with us as we kept some of the logs 🪵!
This was a great opportunity for our children to learn about the circle of life, sustainability and more than ever why we need to look after our planet 🌎 ! They absolutely showed how much they care for nature and want to preserve it, especially in our camp!
Have a great weekend everybody!
