Hello everyone,
This week has been busy at Fulham welcoming back some old campers as well as new, together with our full time children. All of the children have been very welcoming to one another, and our full day children have shown the way and helped to explain our rules of the Forest to some of the newer children. The children have all shown great understanding of our “be kind” rule and have shown lots of empathy and understanding to those who may need support and or comfort and encouragement to join in games and activities.
During our busy week we have had some visitors from outer space just like in the story book, ‘My Alien and me!’ We have flown into space on a rocket ship 🚀 and travelled across planets 🪐 on rovers. The children marvelled over volcanos 🌋 enjoying recreating those seen on Mars and Mercury, working out the best combinations of baking soda and vinegar to make the biggest eruption!
The weather has brought lots of excitement over the past week and the children have continued to amaze us with their ability to adapt and find fun in everything! The rain has provided us with the never-ending fun of splashing in puddles, trying to make the biggest splash possible! The rain has mixed with our once dry soil and created the best ‘black holes’ just like in space to help us travel through the universe. They have also lent a hand to our children getting into character as muddy hippos 🦛 which they have taken great pride in, ensuring that the educators too were decorated in muddy patterns.
The wind had been great for a kite flying competitions 🪁. We have used a variety of materials to create a wooden cross to hold our kite material together. The children watched as the kites flew high and danced around in the change of wind directions.
We have enjoyed big group games and activities such as ‘Duck Duck Goose!’, ‘Grandmother's Footsteps’, and dancing games. The children all participated in each of these games and showed great skill in turn taking and genuine excitement for the child whose turn it was.
On our last day of the week, the children had a wonderful time with our indoor activities, such as making moon sand and slime, learning about space and the planets, especially dressing up and free play in their socks. During our reflection time, the children shared some of their favourite moments at Little Forest Folk this week and the educators expressed their gratitude for such a fantastic week!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
