Fulham - Kitchen Towel Rainbows

As another week ends in the Fulham forest, the children have had the most amazing fun-packed week. Starting off the week, we all enjoyed some group games, such as ‘what’s the time Mr Wolf’ and ‘duck, duck goose’, which allowed the children to use their physical energy, running around camp chasing each other.

Donna our deputy manager, who loves creating awesome science experiments with the children, enjoyed helping our little scientists learn about colour merging. Everyone was really engrossed in creating their own magical kitchen towel rainbows 🌈. After colouring two ends of the towel the children were able to watch closely as once they had placed each end into a cup of water, the colours from each end magically merged and spread up the towel to meet in the middle. What an amazing colourful experience it was to watch!

The children were all really amazed to see a horse and cart in the palace for a wedding, which led the educators to decide to build a wooden replica in camp, and this went down a treat…..the children LOVED it! It was nice to watch as they used this fantastically in their role play, holding onto the reins and travelling across the world to lots of fabulous countries!

Using coloured wool and some sticks, we were able to design our own unique patterns by weaving and wrapping the string around the sticks in a special way to create our own little hanging mobiles to take home.

We based a day on Winnie the Witch, and all our activities were based on the great storybooks of Winnie the Witch and Wilber the Cat. In camp we got really creative making our own potions and in the creative area made some great magic wands to cast some spells, as well as using face paint to turn ourselves into cats.

As some children showed some interest in countries around the world, we decided on making our own postcard where the children could practise their writing skills and gain more knowledge on various different countries and where they are situated in the world.

What a great week it’s been here in the Fulham forest. We are excited to seeing all the adventures and learning opportunities we get up to next week!
