Fulham - Insect Friends!

Although this week has been a little shorter due to the bank holiday Monday, it’s definitely been packed full of half term fun! 🍃 This week we’ve had not only our full-timers, but the great addition of our holiday campers! We have seen lots of returning faces as well as some new forest friends which have been a pleasure to welcome into camp this week.

The arrival of some new friends of varying ages is always a great opportunity for our full-timers to display their kindness to one another and attention to our rules. As soon as a new Little Forest Folk-er may need reminding about a rule, for example “no shaking or breaking” or “no picking, no licking” they are quick to step in and support their new friend in making the best decisions. Our full-timers show such a proud-ness and commitment to the forest and its resources, super excited to give new faces a tour of the mud kitchen and continuous provision, sharing mud kitchen recipes and concoctions.

With the unpredictable weather and frequent showers, we’ve seen a rise in our bug sitings🐌 Here in the forest we LOVE our insect friends and make sure to teach our little ones how to observe any creatures we may find with care and respect. Children challenge and push their bravery when holding an unfamiliar animal and exhibit an array of powerful describing words like “slimy” and “wriggly”. It’s great to witness that within our small interactions with wildlife our little ones can explore most areas of learning - Literacy, Understanding the World, Cognition & Learning and Personal, Social & Emotional Development. Thank you nature! 🌾🐞
