Halloween at Fulham
Hello lovely families,
We’ve had such a wonderful, spooky week in the forest. The children have been enjoying dressing up and having their face painted with scary dinosaurs, cats, tigers and so much more!
Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been immersing themselves in focused activities such as making ghosts using recycled cups, pipe cleaners and googly eyes! They’ve been developing their fine motor skills using scissors to cut, holding paint brushes, threading string through tiny hoops and creating the spookiest monsters, aliens and ghosts to decorate the forest.
We made bats out of paper, straws and sticks to fly them around our camp on a windy day! Finding ways to stick the tape, which so often got stuck in their little fingers! They even made Halloween themed decorations using mud and clay with pipe cleaners and googly eyes.
Our talented educators have been working above and beyond to support the children in all areas of their development. Every day they are teaching the children about the rules of the forest and how to stay safe, promoting the children to self-risk assess. They read stories (sometimes the same book 5 times a day) and ask the children questions, extending their comprehension and their vocabulary. We also talk about feelings and emotions that some stories might make us feel, for example scared, frightened or sad.
Our children are so fascinated by books and stories that very often we can find them reading books independently or reading to a friend, pointing at the images and imagining what happens next! ‘Winnie the Witch’ and ‘Room on the Broom’ have been very popular this week in the forest!
Our adventurers have been challenging their physical abilities further. They are able to build tracks, obstacles courses and find ways to overcome barriers, problem-solving and negotiating as they play along.
As the colder weather approaches, we kindly ask you to start bringing the children in warmer layers, hats and gloves to keep the little ones warm. They are loving learning about the seasons, observing the changes in the environment, collecting leaves of different shapes, sizes and colours. Using natural resources also teaches children about sustainability and recycling and their creations are gorgeous!
It is a very special week for us at Fulham. We celebrated our 5th anniversary on Monday with a very special caterpillar cake and as you all know, we were graded as OUTSTANDING again! Our team at Fulham is so proud and grateful to everyone at Little Forest Folk that helped us when we were in need, to our amazing children that teach us so much every day and to our lovely families, which are truly wonderful! A big THANK YOU to you all for making our job the best in the world!
Have a fantastic weekend and see you after half term!
