Fulham - giant colourful eggs

Happy Easter lovely families,

We had such an incredible week in the forest. Our Little Forest Folk-ers became Easter bunnies hopping around our camp looking for some special treats! Zainab made giant colourful eggs with numbers and shapes cut in half and the children had the most amazing time fetching them in all sorts of places! Some were hidden in the bushes, some were up in the trees and others under pallets and benches. Once all the pieces were collected, it was up to the children to match the eggs. The children have been really interested in numbers lately, so this was a great activity for them to practice their number recognition and addition.

The children had a lot of fun experimenting with paint and they made some impressive paintings on our rather large Easter banner using brushes, sticks, fingers and sometimes elbows! Everyone joined in and took turns decorating the banner with bunnies, flowers, eggs, and other abstract paintings. The children had a fantastic time making some baskets using rice krispies and honey with Pippa. Mixing the sticky ingredients was a tough task, but their strong arms and hands did the trick! They also decorated a special treat to take home with them for their Easter celebrations.

We had some impressive paper planes flying around the forest this week. Chloe showed the children how to fold the paper so the planes would glide for long distances and at a super speedy velocity! Even the educators had a go at attempting to make their own! It was such a fun activity! There were all sorts of destinations on the agenda. We had flights to space, of course, but also to Florida, Spain, and other exciting places.

The children made their very own giant paper-mache egg! They used newspaper bits to dip in watery glue and stick them to a balloon. It took great skill to stick the pieces together without leaving their sticky fingers behind! Then all they had to do was wait for the glue to dry to pop the balloon and decorate the egg.

Throughout the whole week, we’ve had a couple of chicks on site which the children absolutely loved! Each day, Hannah came to the forest telling the story of the two chicks that came with her from home hiding in her hood but disappeared once she arrived at camp! And the children do love a mystery! They were fascinated by the tale and off they were after snack, looking for the chicks. The children took turns looking after them throughout the day and they did an impressive job!

This week, we said goodbye to our beloved Pippa who is off on an exciting new adventure! Pippa has been such a great part of our LFF family at Fulham. We will miss her very much and wish her all the best!

Of all our many adventures this week, running freely in the walled garden as the snow started to fall on our faces, was the most exciting! The children were wrapped up in warm clothes, hats, and gloves and all the running and excitement kept them happy and warm. As they say, “there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing”!

Have a lovely break everybody!
