As we’re approaching the end of Holiday Camp, it’s been wonderful to watch the confidence and sociability of these little ones grow in such a short time. New environments can be nerve-racking for any child, particularly if you’re not as familiar with muddy play, toilet tents and mixed-aged play! ⛺️ These nerves were quickly squished, and strong relationships with peers/educators have grown tremendously, to where campers have arrived on camp with beaming smiles- ready for a forest day. Our full timers have shown resilience through these transition periods, saying goodbye to old friends, hello to new, learning how to embrace change and the fun that can come along with it! ☀️ We hope these new friendships can rekindle at the future holiday camps to come! 🍂
Fancy a spot of Yoga? 🧘♀️
This week we have touched on mindfulness and meditation, with an end of day cool-down. Educators led a Yoga session where children practiced some of the classic poses like ‘child’s pose’ and ‘downward dog’, until they became very keen to lead the session themselves! Children then took it in turns to stand in front of the group and model various balances and poses for their peers to attempt. We saw some brilliantly unique poses and lots of great motivation.
Good morning, Officers! 👮♂️
This week we had an exciting visit from the local Council Officers, who kindly spent some time on camp with our Little Forest Folk-ers. They explained their job responsibilities, and how they keep the local area in order! Lots of our cohort have a big interest in the jobs which keep our environment safer, like doctors, ambulance workers and police officers, working these roles into so much of their day-to-day play. It was particularly exciting for them to request to wear the hat themselves, to which the officers kindly agreed! ⛑️ Our little ones loved learning about the working world around them, even getting some ‘Littering Offence’ stickers to give out later (don’t worry there’s certainly no littering here at Fulham camp)! 🚮
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
