Chiswick - Wildlife taking over the gardens

What a lovely week it has been for us, even though the sun decided to hide from us and peeked just for one day. This didn’t stop us from having a lot of wonderful time amongst the trees. Children and Educators alike really love our camp – it blesses us with so many hiding spots, trees to climb on, leaves to play with but it also protects us from the rain, meaning that we stay dry even if it’s pouring down in the ‘outside’ world.

This week the children having been involved in various activities. We had some bracelet making using natural wool, den building, drawing and writing on the floor and a lot of storytelling and imaginative play. After two months of being away from the forest we have been amazed at the changes that happened in our absence.

We have spotted lots of different wildlife taking over the gardens. Each morning we would set off for our adventure walks and see what different animals we could find. We found a coot’s nest on the brook and watched with amazement how they carefully tended to their babies. On our walks we have also discovered a graceful heron on his way to fish. We sat in complete silence watching him scanning the water and curiously observing us from the distance.

We are so glad to be back in the forest where we are surrounded by the nature and where we can forget for a moment about what’s happening in the world around us. We watched with awe how the children carried on in their wonderful ways, their exploration and their imaginative play. Their resilience, confidence and problems-solving has allowed them to settle in easily into the different routine and we are so pleased to help them in making those skills even stronger.
