It’s been a gorgeous week exploring the grounds, finding small treasures within the park and expanding our emotional language.
Pippa created an ‘emotions tree’ by assigning a colour to each emotion (happy, sad, calm, silly/excited, and annoyed) and placing our hand prints on the tree depending on how we felt. There were a whole range of feelings on the tree by the end, and it really got the conversation rolling about how we felt today and why 🍃
We also learnt about hedgehogs and how they choose to sleep under leaves, so be careful with bonfires this year - be sure to put a fence around your pile! 🦔
Another popular activity this week was making cosy spiders in their webs from cardboard, black string and placing some googly eyes. 🕷
We also learnt about space, specifically meteor showers, which is dust mixing with the Earth’s gases. We even listened to some amazing space noises. 🪐
October month = Halloween month! 🎃 it’s been great to go on spooOoOky strolls, create some ghostly arts & crafts and visit creepy trees!
We had a special treasure hunt walk this week! We had a treasure map that shows all the spots (Xs) where our adventurers could find treasures. Children managed to find the symbols on the map that represent familiar objects such as; the bridge, the column and the river, so we went to each place to find the treasures! The map also showed the number of treasures they could find at each spot, so they were saying ‘we can find two treasures here, guys!’ Our Little Forest Folk-ers were really good at spotting treasures on the bushes and fences, and they were so excited when they found them!! We saved all the treasures in a special box and the children took turns to carry and look after it☺️
