We began the week by introducing the children to our two Colour Monsters, Happy and Sad. Together, we sorted different feelings into jars, sparking great conversations about times when we have felt happy or sad. The children shared thoughtful examples, showing a wonderful understanding of their emotions.
Some of our adventurers went on a nature walk to the playground, stopping by the kitchen garden on the way back. While there, they played flower bingo, spotting beautiful blooms, and enjoyed a peaceful moment of meditation in the meadow.
In the forest, the children were busy swinging, searching for beetles and worms under logs, and getting creative in the mud kitchen. We also practiced our climbing skills, both on the playground equipment and logs. All the children showed incredible confidence and determination.
Our mark making activity with chalk and blackboards was a big hit this week. The children focused on their grip and control, arranging their marks purposefully on the blackboards. It was a fantastic way to strengthen their fine motor skills and encourage their creativity.
This week we had the opportunity to watch the gardeners at work in the meadow as they pruned trees. The children were fascinated by the long saw and especially excited when the branches were chopped into wood chips. One child perfectly described it as "a big firework machine!"
It’s been a week full of exploration, learning, and discovery. We’re so proud of how much the children have grown in confidence and curiosity, and we’re excited to see where next week’s adventures will take us.
