Winkworth - Wondered and Wandered!

Little Forest Folk have wondered and wandered this week! πŸ€”πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆ

Our Little Forest Folk have been playing in the jungle bistro (mud kitchen) making lots of yummy food and drink. β˜•οΈπŸ₯€We found lots of toy animals at the bistro and decided that some of them would much prefer to live in a watery environment, so we moved them into the water bucket and did lots of scooping and pouring of water whilst we were at it! πŸ’¦πŸ πŸŸ

Continuing our theme of encouraging curiosity about wild animals, several children unearthed pictures of animals and footprints from the sticks and soil in the tuff tray and we had a lot of fun matching them up together, with some great discussions around which footprints could match each animal. πŸΎπŸ†πŸ—πŸ’

On one of our many adventure walks we went off to look and observe the wildlife in the Arboretum. We finally found some frogspawn in the pond 🐸 that we have been waiting and watching to appear. We were also lucky enough to meet a very friendly goose that we all decided to call Gertrude. We talked about how we need to move slowly around her, whilst also discussing where she lives and what she might like to eat. We went on to look at all the gorgeous flowers that are starting to come out and we stopped to give the occasional tree a hug to make it happy.

To encourage our Little Forest Folk-ers to ask lots of questions to broaden their knowledge we have been playing β€˜What’s in the box?’ This encourages them to ask different types of β€˜what’ and β€˜how’ questions to guess what is inside. One day there was an elephant and in the afternoon a giraffe! πŸ˜πŸ¦’ I wonder what will be in the box next time?

With Mother’s Day this weekend, our little explorers have been hard at work using the tools to make a medal for their Mummy. First, they had to use the bow saw to cut a bit of wood off and then use the hand drill to make the hole at the top. They threaded some string through the hole and then decorated a β€˜no.1 Mummy’ sign before sticking it on.

We hope you all enjoy your weekend and see you next week for more fun and adventures in the forest.
