Another beautiful week at Wimbledon full of wonder and excitement! Spring is well and truly here now, and there are signs of it everywhere!
We have spent lots of time at the frog pond this week and have been so amazed by the number of frogs that we have seen. We have even been able to pick some up (very carefully) and take a closer look at them. We have also spotted lots of frogspawn every day and it has become custom to keep track of how it is growing. This has then led to conversations about the life cycle of a frog, and we have used books to find out lots of exciting facts.
We have also been looking at shapes and patterns this week, and the children have been copying patterns on to paper and used things found in the forest to make interesting designs. This has been a great way to learn the names of shapes and also how to create them. We’ve had some very funky finished pieces of art, and have discovered that it looks great when the pattern is made using fun stones and sticks!
As well as this, there has been time for lots of imaginative play, creating a pirate ship, searching for bugs in the long grass and making lovely Mother’s Day cards. Such a busy and fun filled week in the sunshine!
