This week we thoroughly enjoyed the Spring Equinox and all of the sun that it brought our way!
At the start of the week there was a lot of interest around treasure maps! We sailed the Seven Seas in the hunt for “sea hyenas!” We decided to build upon this, by creating our treasure maps on special treasure paper! This is brown paper which is the perfect kind of colour for an old ancient map! The role-play opportunities this created were fantastic to see, and the “sea hyenas” were a nice change from good ol’ Jack Sparrow!
By the middle of the week, we started to talk and discuss the changes we were seeing in the forest, wild daffodils have started to spring up, and trees are beginning to look green again! Flowers became a talking point, and so one of the children wanted to make some for their Mum! This led to a great activity with Educator Flo who helped the children to create some lovely flower bouquets to take home!
We have thoroughly enjoyed the warm rays this week, this is a special time of the year on the common, in a few weeks time we’ll be able to spot the bunnies playfully hopping around the bushes, which is always a spring highlight for both adults and children alike!
Wishing you all a splendid weekend!
