Into Spring we sprang this week, despite some attempts by rainclouds to wash us out of the forest on Wednesday! Wow, that was a wet one! As a result, we have been given the gift of MUD GLORIOUS MUD in the forest! As we have had plentiful ingredients for mud pies, mud teas, mud cakes, mud pasta bakes, mud bento boxes and mud pizzas, the mud kitchen has been a hive of activity with an ever-changing menu that reflects the diverse imaginations and palates of our little chefs.
The children have continued to consider community and friendship, exploring how to work together to construct and create using different materials, as well as experimenting with collaborative mark making using innovative methods and new tools. Spray bottles gave children the chance to develop their fine and gross motor skills as they created an enormous blast of colour and movement between two trees. Felt tipped pens gave them the opportunity to practice their grasp, grip, control and hand-eye coordination and some equally colourful and joyous creations appeared like magic before our eyes.
There really has been a lot of joy in the forest this week - the sun shining through cold mornings, longer days, golden afternoons and welcoming back our sessional friends have pulled the gang together into a truly hardy bunch of fun-seeking, giggling, mischievous, curious and caring folks who love to hang out together among the trees and make adventures out of every moment.
Roll on more joy, colour and community! Have a fantastic weekend, see you next week, one and all.
