Wimbledon Village - Fungi, Feathers & Frosty Spiderwebs

What a welcome to Winter it has been this week! The past seven days have taken us from sunny to frosty with a little bit of wet and windy in between and it was the perfect opportunity for our Little Forest Folk-ers to feel the changes in the seasons first hand.

While on some days we took shelter in the nursery for hot meals, sleeps and some indoor play, we had adventure walks a-plenty and felt the crispy cold grass and frozen ground under our feet, while looking out for fungi, feathers and frosty spiderwebs. We had adventure snacks on the common and in nearby Cannizaro Park and while children chose their fruits and vegetables we practiced our pronunciation, clapping out the sounds of one syllable "pears" and two syllable "apples" before graduating to three syllable "bananas", "cucumbers" and "oranges". We were so impressed by the children's ability to pronounce the letter sounds very clearly, even in between mouthfuls of delicious snacks!

During our indoor time, our little explorers took the opportunity to make peg dolls and colour in butterfly pictures while we listened to some forest sounds on our speaker to remind us of being back on camp, which is where we will be as usual on Monday - and we can't wait!

Until next week, our little adventurers!
