Another busy week has flown by! It was a week filled with a little sun here and there, a bit of rain, and an icy day. We strongly believe we were visited by the winter season especially on Tuesday and Wednesday. Winter decided to remind us that it’s just around the corner and so we must plan and prepare. On Tuesday the rain kept us indoors until 11:00, it was a great opportunity for our children to be inside and practise our indoor rules such as sitting on a chair, walking feet, and inside voices.
Once back in the forest, our Little Forest Folk-ers were all curious to notice the changes of the environment like when it was icy and they could peel the leaves off different surfaces, such as the table, and notice the prints of the leaf left. This opened opportunities to understand the world and how each season affects the environment and all the creatures around us.
Children and educators have been learning about different types of herbal teas and have been tasting a different flavour each day and having group discussions as they observe the tea bags’ contents. We have also been supporting the children in recapping the forest rules and routines, teaching our little adventurers the importance of taking responsibility for their own and shared belongings and where things belong in the environment.
As well as this, we have continued with a real focus on literacy as we have been celebrating our little explorers’ love of stories and books. We have been encouraging the children to use their imaginations to make up their own stories whilst playing in the forest.
Our story telling sessions are always a hit with the children. This week they marvelled at how Xiao performed the story of the three witches who were busy in the kitchen creating some witchy foods.
What a wonderful week, we hope you all have a fab weekend!
