This week, winter truly announced its arrival with chilly temperatures and even a special visit from our frosty friend, Mr. Snow! Despite the cold, our spirits remained high as we danced into the season, embracing both our popular STEM theme and the festive joys to come.
We started with leaf printing and bark rubbings, using the vibrant colours of autumn as our palette. Painting the backs of leaves, we pressed them onto paper to reveal beautiful patterns. Our adventurers then put on their scientist hats, using microscopes to zoom in on the intricate structures of leaves. They marvelled at the cells, stems, and vein patterns, gaining a deeper appreciation for the natural wonders of our forest.
Our wild cooking sessions took a creative turn this week as we focused on creating food for the forest’s creatures. Using biodegradable materials, we crafted bird feeders by coating tubes in a sticky, bird-safe mixture and rolling them in bird seed and muesli. These creations were hung around the forest, much to the delight of our feathered friends—especially the robins, who quickly discovered their new treats!
To stay warm and active, we embraced our adventurous side with lots of physical play. Rope bridges, swings, and ladders kept us moving, climbing, and balancing, ensuring rosy cheeks and warm smiles all around.
It’s been a wonderful week of science, creativity, and connection with nature. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we can’t wait for more wintery fun next week!
