The sun has got his hat on!
The sun made a very welcomed return this week, and everyone has been enjoying the happiness that the sunshine brings!
The groups have all been working together this week to find shelter from the sun, a difference from last week, but still the need for shade. The children have enjoyed working out new ways to put the tarps up and helped to find the sticks we have needed to keep our structures upright. Everyone has taken well to their time that is needed in the shade, and we have made our areas into quiet and relaxing places to read stories or to draw.
Some of our children created their own forest wedding this week, creating dresses out of paper and flower crowns. Each of the children took a role on and really took to their new job role well. We had a DJ, a caterer and a photographer. The children worked together, with the help of the adults, to make their flower crowns by adding long bits of grass as their base and then a few flowers to add a bit of colour. This was a really lovely thing to do in the forest as everyone had their role that they chose, and they enjoyed showing their creative sides!
All of our little forest folkers have been really interested in construction this week. It might have been using small wooden pallets to make a balance bridge, or using ropes to climb along, or perhaps helping to build a fort out of logs and sticks. Everyone has taken their time to help build and make sure everything is strong enough to use. The children really learn the skills from those around them and know what is safe to use and how to change things if they aren’t safe.
The children have been in a very creative mood this week. Painting, building and making stories have all been a big part of our week, and the sun seems to have really influenced their play. It shows that the weather plays such a huge part in how the day goes and the children really work with what they have around them.
Let’s hope the sun continues!
