Wimbledon - The sound of music

The sound of music

This week we have seen the exciting return of Joe the musician to the forest. The children just love listening to his songs, dancing along and getting a chance to play some instruments. So quickly our foresters pick the songs and are singing along. It has been brilliant to hear music in our forest again.

There has also been plenty of construction play this week. Some children have built a ‘fire’ and others seesaws. A group of children worked very hard one afternoon to build a bridge to go over a large hole in the meadow. It took great teamwork and resource finding but soon a bridge was built. Some older children tested the bridge before to make sure it was ready and then all the children had a go at balancing across.

The little ones have also been loving bug hunts and finding all sorts of creatures from woodlouse to worms to giant slugs. There has also been a fox on the meadow most afternoons that the children love to wave hello to too.

Despite a shorter week, there has been so much fun, laughter and excitement in the Wimbledon Forest. We cannot wait until next week!
