Wimbledon - Roaring Tigers and Slithering Snakes

Roaring Tigers and Slithering Snakes

Both groups have been loving sensory play this week. The foxes created a sensory tray filled with popcorn kernels, oats and rice. The little ones got to work pouring from container to container, scooping up and letting it fall between their fingers, and mixing it with water. Soon the activity turned to cooking, as water, mud and sticks were added. Yummy food for the dinosaurs was heated up and the Little Forest Folk-ers had a great time handing out the mixture. In the bunnies they have been exploring popcorn and popcorn boxes. The children searched for acorns, seeds and other plants that could be used to form food. Soon a shop was set up selling all sorts of delicious food using the popcorn and pizza boxes. The oven was busy and a popcorn popping station was also in action!

Animals seem to have been the theme for the week at Wimbledon. There has been so much imagination play to do with animals - pet dragons, police snakes, robot dogs and very hungry cats. The imagination play seems to never end and all the little one’s love to get involved. To extend the animal play we have also been doing face paint, the forest soon becomes alive with cheeky monkeys, very scary tigers and beautiful unicorns. Further, the children in both groups have been playing a lot of animal guessing games, they think of an animal and say three clues. Such as what colour it is, where it lives or what sound it begins with, and all the children have a chance to guess what it may be. A great way to learn about animals and take turns with our peers.

A great week 😁
