Obstacle courses and mushroom hunting!
This week the Bunnies and Foxes have both been so busy. There have been pumpkin colourings, leaf art and so much water play. A favourite activity has been making and using obstacle courses. Out on the meadow there are tyres, planks and logs. The children move around the items to create their own route, working as a team and supporting one another on any trickier parts. It is a joy seeing how wonderful the little ones work together and turn take.
We have also been practicing our physical development through an acorn throw. A practitioner used a large cardboard box and recycled milk cartons to create a target. The cartons each had different bugs and insects on them which gave the children a great place to aim towards. As the children began to get acorns in the cups they would then take a step back in order to try and challenge themselves further. The Little Forest Folk-ers loved this activity and it was so nice to see everyone taking it in turns to throw the acorns and see which animal cup they landed in.
At the moment the Wimbledon forest is covered in a beautiful array of different mushrooms. The children quickly learnt the safety rules around mushrooms and developed a sense of awe when they found them. We have been out on plenty of walks this week, on our quest to discover as many mushrooms as possible. The children love to find out the name and facts about each type of mushroom - how amazing that they are surrounded by so many learning opportunities!
It has been another amazing week in the forest.
