Little Forest Folk Wimbledon have been having a fabulous week in the forest! There have been so many great activities this week and the children have all been so engaged with what is happening around them.
We have really enjoyed looking at all of the different mushrooms that have been growing in the forest over the last few months and we have now taken to measuring them. Using tape measures placed next to the mushroom, our little explorers have been looking at the numbers and we have all enjoyed discussing how tall and how wide they are. We made sure to follow our "no picking, no licking" rule and the children had a wonderful time comparing all the different mushrooms to one another along the way.
We have also taken part in some activities to learn about Remembrance Day. Some of our little ones took part in finger painting and created some painted poppies, whilst others cut out wood cookies and then painted them with red and black shapes to make flowers. It was a way of teaching the children about the importance of the day, in an engaging and creative way to make it more enjoyable and accessible.
There have also been lots of mud kitchen games which have been added to with the rain this week. The children have been busy mixing and creating some wonderful dishes in the forest!
Every week at Wimbledon we are learning something new and our little adventurers are being exposed to some of the amazing things our forest has to offer!
