Everything has been getting very spooky in the forest this week! With Halloween on the horizon the children have been very excited by the various fun activities. We have had pumpkin carving, sawing wood cookie pumpkins, Halloween stick man making and cobweb hunting.
Our little explorers spent time using some tools to carve out pumpkins, working with some of the educators, they scooped out all of the inside of the pumpkin and then used the tools to carve faces. They spoke about all the designs they could choose and linked it back to their own pumpkins at home.
We also spent some time sawing to make wood cookies which were then turned into pumpkins. The children all took turns to cut the wood cookie and then painted them in orangey/autumn colours.
Another fun activity saw us making pumpkins from cardboard this week and then adding thread around them. This was a great way to develop our fine motor skills and creativity, as our little adventurers decorated their pumpkins in various ways. We made flat ones and round ones so that everyone had the opportunity to try different shapes.
It’s been a haunting Halloween week, and next week is looking just as fun and exciting!!
