This week the children have adapted very well to the changing weathers, especially all of our newer and younger Little Forest Folk-ers! They’ve kept themselves warm and busy with lots and lots of activities. Well done! A true test for what’s to come.
We’ve continued to read books for black history month and celebrate all our children’s cultures, encouraging the children to bring in their flags to celebrate their heritage. Our little explorers have enjoyed discussing similarities and differences about themselves and their families. Who is in their family? Do they have siblings? Cousins? Aunties and Uncles? Where do their family members live? We’ve encouraged the children to ask questions and show interest in one another’s stories. It’s been excellent to find out more about our newer children and see their passion when talking about their families.
Another main highlight this week has been role play! As you may know, there is a distinct feature on our walk into the forest … ICE CREAM TREE! The children have always loved this pit stop, but now it’s become a shop, with many more flavours added to the menu (choc ices, lolly pops and 99s) and different shop keepers. All of our children enjoy participating in this role play and they are starting to discuss the prices of their ice creams. This tree is amazingly designed to be eye level for our children and the mud is a perfect colour for chocolate ice cream!
