It's been a very mellow week at forest school; yet there has been no diminishment of excitement and fun! At paradise this week, working with our educator – Dan – the children assembled a working aqueduct to transport water several feet across the play area. The children had a real glee about them as they watched the water pushing their sticks and stones further along the pipe. At the arts tables, other children were engaged in mashing up their blackberries until they were nought but pulp and juice. It was a great dye for them to use with their little clay creations!
It's been obstacle courses galore at Wimbledon Common this week; rope bridges; stepping stones; slack lines and see-saws. The children have all attempted them with great triumph! They've drawn houses and dragons! They've created sliding zones by watering the floor and then surfed their way across it!
We have had an adventure walk a day on the common this week. Nice early morning treks passing fern and bramble. The children have continued to fill bags of blackberries throughout! The morning walks have been a great way of changing things up a bit and the children have enjoyed having their snack in different parts of the forest! On our travels the children have often stopped to collect pinecones or helicopter leaves. They've been very enjoyable walks!
We're once again thankful for such a blissful week and the children have unquestionably enjoyed it too! As always, we look forward to the next week and what fun it may bring. Have a great weekend, everyone!
