What a special week we had at Twickenham as we celebrated our fourth forest birthday! Our Little Forest Folk-ers celebrated in style while appreciating the magical world of insects, our theme this week!
Our already astounding forest was even more adorned with a huge birthday banner that we hand painted, paper chains made from old magazines and kitchen tube rolls, and colourful paper fans that we all created together. The little insects and bugs, of course, joined in to celebrate: aside from our regular slugs and snails, we marvelled at Jersey tiger moths, grasshoppers, shield bugs, and damselflies, who seemed to know we are having a party as they have chosen to visit our forest specifically this week! Magnifying glasses, binoculars, and tally sheets were all brought out to record all the little creatures we saw!
We had a lot of risky play this week as we enjoyed balancing and bouncing on our new rope obstacle course. It was tricky at first but we practised and braved through every step and bounce and even tried hanging and balancing upside down! Our gross motor skills and determination were definitely at work!
The highlight of our day was our first ever river walk this year! It was a long time coming but absolutely worth the wait as we had the best time paddling with our friends, picking the juiciest and biggest blackberries, and having a bit of splash in the River Crane!
Thank you to all the children, families, and staff for making Little Forest Folk Twickenham an exceptional place that we all love!
