Wandsworth - Mud & Clay Adventures

What a wonderful week we’ve had! In the forest many children enjoyed creating the “world’s biggest mud balls”, with support from educators to design, pat and mould. With leaves plucked from the mix and stones sieved through, children challenged each other to make globes “bigger than” their heads. Particular enjoyment was had turning these into ‘eating meatballs for giants’, rolling them down slopes, and of course, smashing them to pieces!

Similar shaping continued at the field with clay on the art tables. Here, many children have been enjoying rolling, pressing, squishing, whacking, splatting, and poking lumps of clay. This type of messy, sensory play is perfect for children to experiment exactly as they please in their own time, with educators on hand to make sure the learning is always fun and at the right stage for each individual.

We’re hoping the rain doesn’t dampen weekend plans for anyone, and we very much look forward to hearing about your adventures next week.
